How it works

Calculate hours in three steps.

No formulas, no spreadsheets. The calculator updates the moment you type, so weekly totals and pay are always in sync.

01

Enter your times

Add clock-in and clock-out for each day worked. Type times naturally: "9a", "5:30 PM" or 24-hour like "1730" all work.

02

Subtract breaks

Drop unpaid lunch and break minutes into the Break column. Daily totals adjust instantly.

03

Get hours & pay

See regular hours, overtime and gross pay at a glance. Add your hourly rate to see pay before deductions.

Common questions

Time card calculator FAQ.

How do I calculate hours worked from clock-in and clock-out times?

Subtract the clock-in time from the clock-out time to get the elapsed shift, then subtract any unpaid break minutes. For example, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM is 8 hours 30 minutes; remove a 30-minute lunch and you have 8.00 paid hours. This calculator does all of that automatically as you type each day.

How is overtime calculated?

Under U.S. federal law (FLSA), non-exempt employees earn overtime for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek, usually at 1.5× their regular rate. Some states also require daily overtime after 8 hours. This tool defaults to weekly overtime after 40 hours; you can enable daily overtime and change the multiplier in the settings. Always check your local labor laws.

Does it handle overnight shifts?

Yes. If your clock-out time is earlier than your clock-in time, say in at 10:00 PM and out at 6:00 AM, the calculator assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds the hours correctly.

How should I enter break or lunch time?

Enter unpaid breaks in minutes in the Break column. A one-hour lunch is 60, a 15-minute break is 15. Paid breaks should not be subtracted, so leave those out.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. Refreshing the page clears your entries. To keep an ongoing record across your whole team, that's what a PunchPro account is for.
